MARLA TOLSON
I am the owner of Tolson Art+Design, an artist + art educator. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Corcoran School of the Arts & Design in Washington, DC and my MA in Art Education from Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore, MD. With a strong formal education and decades of experience, I endeavor to bring fresh ideas to support clients' needs as well as my own need to communicate visually.
I understand that art is visual communication. How you say what you want to say is important. Color, typography, imagery and language must all cohesively, in order to effectively communicate the message. I've had the pleasure of doing this for individuals, families, government agencies, and multi-million dollar tech and entertainment companies.
My inspiration comes from the Creator and the beauty of creation; experiences through my senses; artists whom I identify with as a woman, like Alma Woodsey Thomas, as a person of color, like Titus Kaphar, and as a designer, like Sheila Levrant de Bretteville; and from people, places, and things I love.
CHLOE TOLSON
My name is Chloe. I am currently studying at St. Mary's College of Maryland as an aspiring artist and animator, as well as a drafter.
My mediums vary from traditional to digital, but digital tools are what I enjoy using the most. I am skilled in Autodesk Sketchbook and Wondershare Filmora, and am proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
I’m most inspired by a variety of 2D animated cartoons and films as well as indie animators online. I aspire to be a professional animator, multimedia developer, or even an interior designer.
